New College of Florida
GPA: 4.03
SAT: 1100-1310
ACT: 22-29
New College was founded in 1960 and has 700-800 students total. Please note that this review was written before the restructuring of the school in January, 2023. It’s a very close knit community with 12 students average in a class, 5-7 students in advanced classes, and 35 students in the biggest classes. (The student to faculty ratio is 6:1!) “General Education” classes here offer many unique options to really customize your major; it is definitely not a school where everyone needs to take Freshman English. It is a goal of New College to have their “Set Sail” classes for first year students be fun and interactive to help the students acclimate to the rigor that they might not be used to. You can even create your own course! A professor will help create a syllabus and teach it to you then other students can take it later! When students write their thesis in most fields (especially in biology, marine biology, chemistry, and psychology), they get published as an undergraduate!
The middle 50% of the most recent incoming class has a GPA of 3.7-4.3, SAT of 1100-1310, and ACT of 23-30.
