Connecticut College is another Little Ivy located in New London, CT midway between Boston and NYC. They are a liberal arts school who just admitted 579 students out of the largest applicant pool in their history. This class is the most diverse in their history as well. Their acceptance rate last year was 40%. It is a test optional school, and the middle 50% of SAT scores for those who chose to submit ranged from 1380 to 1520 with the mid range ACT scores being from 31 to 34.
At Conn Coll they don’t just ask what’s your major. They want students to make connections between their education and their interests in a way that creates a personalized experience. They call this approach Connections, and it puts the liberal arts in action. Their Connections approach encourages students to ask personal and meaningful questions and explore answers by integrating courses from multiple disciplines, engaging in off-campus learning, and sharing what they have learned with the larger community. The student faculty ratio is 9 to 1, and the average number of students per class is 17.
