Bronx, NY

Fordham University has two campuses: one in the Bronx and one in Manhattan. The historic campus in the Bronx is the one I toured. The Lincoln Center campus is much more modern looking. Fordham is a midsize Jesuit school with 6500 students in the heart of New York City. 3000 students attend the Manhattan campus. The size of it is small enough that you are always seeing your friends, but it is big enough that you are constantly meeting new people. The Jesuit tradition encourages students to think beyond the information in front of them, be social leaders, and view things from diverse perspectives. They welcome students of any faith tradition or no faith background. The core Jesuit principles are care for the whole person, the greater good, and people for others. You will see pictures of their beautiful chapel. There is daily mass offered, but it is completely optional. 37% of their students are Catholic, and 32% have an unreported religious background. 59% of their students are women, 54% come from public high schools, and 41% are underrepresented populations.
