Boston, MA

The University of Massachusetts Boston’s slogan is “for the times.” They are undergoing a major campus transformation that is going to bring much more green space to the campus including a 5 acre quad. They have 120 acres of waterfront campus that is located just outside of Boston. It is a sanctuary from the city, but students can get to Boston in just 10 to 15 minutes on the T, and Logan airport is only 20 minutes away. The day that I toured was very overcast and foggy, so you can imagine how beautiful it would be on a bright, sunny day! They have a 43 mile HarborWalk that goes around campus, and there are many water activities like kayaking, paddle boarding, and sailing. Their campus is on a peninsula, so many of the buildings have floor to ceiling windows to take advantage of the amazing views. They are known as the Beacons because they bring knowledge and light to where there is not. It is also a school for first generation students who are looking to make their mark. UMass Boston is the third most diverse university in America and the most diverse university in the northeast. The 12,000 undergrads come from 136 countries and all states.
