Wesleyan’s open curriculum challenges students and teaches them to think creatively, become intellectually agile, and take meaningful risks. The student to faculty ratio is eight to one. Thirty seven countries were represented in the recent incoming class. Equity is a core belief of Wesleyan, and they are committed to keeping it affordable and accessible.
Wesleyan is considered a Little Ivy. Their most recent incoming class had an admit rate of 16%.
The purposes of education as set by their first president in 1831 were the good of the individual student and the good of the world. Those purposes remain at the heart of Wesleyan’s mission. They have 57 departments and about 2800 undergrads. Wesleyan offers a liberal arts education that is characterized by boldness, rigor, and practical idealism. They educate students to become independent thinkers who have a curiosity to learn throughout their lives and translate that learning into actions that make a positive difference in the world.
